The Denver Broncos: Winning Ugly

The Denver Broncos soundly defeated the San Diego Chargers on this past Monday night to improve their record for the season to 6-0. However, they are certainly not undefeated, at least not in all senses: for the second consecutive week, the Broncos donned throwback uniforms that were nothing less than a sartorial train wreck.   1. I am a compulsive copy editor, and a remorseless grammar nazi (in case you hadn’t noticed).
  2. I am geeky enough to use HTML markup when posting things on community web sites. In case you still hadn’t noticed.
  3. I’m seriously considering getting a bicycle to use for getting around town, in order to both save money on gas and get more exercise. The only drawback I foresee is the increased chance of severe injury due to LA’s shortage of bike lanes and surplus of reckless drivers.
  4. I’m discouraged at having already written this much and only being on #4.

Derek Fired as Coach of His Fantasy Football Team

E.J. Junior, Sr. Junior High Grumpy Hippos owner Derek confirmed at a press conference Thursday morning that he has fired himself as the team’s head coach. The Hippos finished the 2008 Whiplash league season in last place, and rumors of a coaching change had been circulating in recent weeks.

“I am appreciative of the passion and commitment I have provided during my time as our head coach,” Derek announced. “but the performance of them team has not been up to our standard as an organization, and we owe it to our players and the fans to correct that.” [...READ ON...] Continue reading

A Poll of Monumental Importance

Just when you thought my blogging inconsistency couldn’t get any more shameful, here it is – my first post since September. As even a cursory glance will show, C&B has been mute during a period filled with events of historic significance: the spectacular collapse of American financial conglomerates, bringing the national (and hence, global) economy to the brink of utter ruin; the election of the first African-American President of the United States, who furthermore appears to be capable of getting America up off the mat; and the lamentable passage of Proposition 8 in California, inserting language into the state constitution to strip rights away from gay people… to name a few.
